These pictures were all taken between 1 and 2 am in the early morning hours of May 14, 2015. They were all taken with the Canon XSI camera with an 18 mm lens at 800 iso. All exposures were 5 seconds long. Pictures were taken from the roof of the Adventure condominium building in South Anchorage.
Of course it is mid May in the Arctic, meaing that the sky is not dark even at this hour of the night. The aurora covered the entire sky from horizon to horizon and would have been quite impressive if it had been dark.
